Jane Seymour - Woman & Home

Jane Seymour

Four husbands, six children
Jane lives in Los Angeles with her fourth husband James Keach and their twin sons John and Kristopher, 11. She has two children, Katie, 25, and Sean, 21, plus two stepchildren, Jenni Flynn and Kalen Keach.

Jane's first two marriages were short lived – the first to Michael Attenborough (the son of Richard) lasted two years and her second marriage to Geoffrey Planer ended after a year.

“Like most of us, I have many friends who have had breast cancer. I'm very close to Olivia Newton-John (who had breast cancer 15 years ago). What I have seen, which is a tribute to all those women, is that coming through breast cancer changed their lives for the better because it forced them to take stock of their livesThey worked out what mattered and what didn't and started living in the present tense.

They say that when your children leave home they want less from you, but I think they need more! I have six children. Two of them are stepchildren, but they're a constant in my life – I held Jenni in my arms when she was just weeks old and Kalen's been a part of my life since he was 13.

I don't feel any pressure to cut my hair. I think of my hair as very short now – I used to be able to sit on it! But this length is more in fashion and it's healthier too.

I like wearing things that are well-cut, but they don't necessarily have to be tight-fitting. I prefer dresses that move and I love the idea of being able to dance or move in a dress. I adore Amanda Wakeley; I have a couple of her dresses and suits.

My philosophy is to make the most of what we have right now. I don't like getting older, but only because it means you are closer to not living. But I don't live in a world of being scared.”
