Ok, here are the photos that you've all been waiting for! Construction
has been completed on the return of the Paramount Ranch town set to a
Western look and I have provided some photos so that you can see what
it looks like now.
Before you see the pictures I want to let you know that the town will
not look exactly like it did for Dr. Quinn. There will be many elements
that you will recognize, but the town doesn't look 100% like it did.
As a working set, it is inevitable that some things will change with
time. And, they have. You will notice right away that some of the buildings
have different colors now. And, some of the windows and doorways are
different. In the long run, this will be beneficial to future productions
that may consider using the town.
Regarding the portico that was added for Carnivale, and which was left
in place, someone I was chatting with mentioned that on Dr. Quinn, when
Hank and Jake were planning to upgrade the saloon to a nicer establishment,
they talked of a two story place. We can now imagine that they eventually
got it! And, regarding the much larger windows on the saloon, it was
pointed out that now when there are stunt fights in the saloon, someone
can get thrown through the windows!
The photos that you will be seeing were taken in April 2004 while the
town was dressed for filming a Hallmark movie called "Hope Rose".
So, you will see different signs and set dressing than you are used to
seeing. I thought photos of the town in use would be more interesting
for you to see than photos of it all boarded up as it always is in between
film shoots. (When I know when this movie will be airing, I'll try to
let you all know.) If you have any questions about any of the photos,
post them in the discussion area of this website and I'll try to answer
them. I hope you enjoy the photos!
