Jane Receives Annie Glenn Award

Join us for this important event honoring the highest achievement and excellence in our professions. The evening begins with the presentation of the Honors of the Association, ASHA's most prestigious award that highlights the lifetime achievements of ASHA members. The ASHA Fellows, whose contributions form the cornerstones of the professions, are also presented. Additional awards will include the ASHA Distinguished Service Award, Outstanding Service Award, Dorothy Dreyer Award for Volunteerism, Special Contributions in Multicultural Affairs, ASHA Editors' Awards, and the NSSLHA Honors.

The Annie Glenn award will be presented for the second year. Annie Glenn, wife of Senator John Glenn, is known nationwide as a tireless advocate for those with communication disorders. The "Annie," given in her name, is presented to a person who best exemplifies Mrs. Glenn's own invincible spirit.

We are pleased to present the 2004 "Annie" to award-winning actress, Jane Seymour. Best known for her role as Dr. Michaela Quinn on "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman," she not only has a successful professional career, but is also a very involved mother of six children, and has been active in philanthropic endeavors in the U.S. and abroad for over 20 years. Seymour is a dedicated activist for a number of charities, seeking to improve children's lives around the world including Childhelp USA, UNICEF, City Hearts, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and was recently named to the Celebrity Cabinet of the American Red Cross. In addition, Seymour is an established author, who has published both on her own, as well as with her husband, and has written a series of successful children's books. Recently, Ms. Seymour, along with her 6-year old twins, has been featured in public service advertisements on literacy on behalf of the Association of American Publishers.
