Why ' Dr. Quinn' star Jane Seymour,
changed her mind about marriage.

Jane Seymour agreed to wed live-in love James Keach after her two children
pleaded: "Mommy, we love James - and we don't want you to be alone." Just
five months ago the 42 year old star of the hit series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" brushed aside Keach's marriage proposal,
telling him: "I can't afford to marry you."Jane's still paying
third husband David month in support and also gave him $1 million in
cash and millions more in property when they divorced last year.
But her children Katie, 11, and 7-year-old Sean - who have grown very
close to Keach - begged their mom to wed again. And after actor-director
Keach, 45, agreed to sign an ironclad prenuptial agreement, the couple
set a May 15 date for their wedding at a friend's southern California
home.
"Jane told me, 'As much as I love James, I was afraid to marry
him because I'd been taken for so much money by David,"' a source
close to the actress disclosed. "'I thought I had to protect myself
and my hard-earned money. But now I've put aside my fears and my doubts.
Jane, James and the children all live together in her big house in a fashionable
Santa Barbara suburb. Jane told me, ' James has been a wonderful surrogate
dad for Katie and Sean. I've been working 12-hour days on " Dr. Quinn". James,
who works as one of the directors on the show, has more free time and he's
been like Mr. Mom to my kids. I adore him for that and the children are crazy
about him. They persuaded me to marry him, how could I resist them? Jane's
romance with Keach, younger brother of "Mike Hammer", Stacy Keach, ignited
last summer when he directed the actress in her cable tv thriller, 'Sunstroke'.
Keach who split from his actress wife Mimie Maynard last year, first popped
the question to Jane in January.
"Then a few weeks ago little Katie and Sean came to Jane and told her, "
Mommy you look so happy with James, we want you to marry him," a friend of
the couple revealed. " They said, ' One day we'll be grown up and gone
then you'll need someone in your life. Anyway we like him a lot too!"
"Jane told her pals, 'I'm listening to the advice of my kids.' And James
has sworn he'll never touch a penny of my money." Jane told an insider, "We've
drawn up a marriage contract that's iron-clad- one that can't be broken.
James and I will keep our finances completely seperate. I just couldn't afford
to be in the position of supporting two ex-husbands if this should go wrong."
The couple invited more than 500 friends and family members to the wedding,
including Johnny Cash and Jane's Dr. Quinn co-star, Orson Bean. They scheduled
a 4PM tea at their friend's palatial estate, followed by the wedding ceremony
at 5:30, and a formal dinner at 7.
"We'll have our honeymoon during my vacation time in July," Jane told the
close source. "And the children will share part of it with us." "All
my doubts are gone. We're one big happy family and it's honeymoon time for
all of us from now on!" |
