Filming at Paramount Ranch- DQ Set

It is the second day of filming here at the ranch, only one week of town filming and then the movie filming is moved to a closed set at another ranch. It is so good to be back here again, to see most of the cast back here makes me so happy. I have missed coming to the set and watching them film Dr. Quinn. Oh how I took this all for granted!

I arrived at the set early, it has already grown hot even though this is March and still mid morning. There are so many set visitors here today. Someone told me it was announced on the local radio that Quinn was back here filming for a few days.

Filming began out in the meadow. The scenes have something to do with a mining deal gone bad or something; we are not sure as we don't have a script to know what is being filmed. The town council is having a meeting to decide what to do about the mining company coming to town. The cast on hand today are, Jane, Joe, Barbara, Orson, Henry, Jim, Jonelle, and Chaz- Wolf. There is also a country music artist guest starring in the movie as a bad guy, his name is Mark Collie .

It is so good to see the cast here again like old times, everyone is really happy to see each other again. We are told however that the townies have a very small part in the movie so I guess we better enjoy them while we have them around.

Later in the day the crew will move filming to a new set location; now they begin filming in front of The Gazette. During a half hour break to set up filming, Barbara Babock and Jonelle Allen begin to dance in the street in front of the Gazette. Both are twirling their parasols in circles and laughing like two school girls. Wouldn't we love to know what they are saying to each other! Jonelle grabs Barbara's hand and they start skipping and singing down the dirty dusty road to their dressing trailers located down in the parking lot of the ranch.

I snap a few pix as they are dancing and singing and skipping past me. I sure hope these pictures turn out. They seem so happy to be together again, they smile at the crowds as they pass by. What a wonderful sight to see- Barbara and Jonelle again, and a nice memory for me to write in my journal to remember.

I wish filming here would go on forever. How I miss this series! I can't believe it has been a year since it went off the air and it took a year to get this movie ordered up for production.

Filming is moved again- now inside the clinic. The crowds can't see any filming now so we just visit and talk about old times here and of tomorrow's filming, which we are told will be mostly in the town in front of Bray's store and in the clinic. We are tired, it has been a long day, many hours of standing out in the heat to watch a handful of scenes being filmed. It has also been a busy day for the cast, none have come up to visit with the crowds as they did yesterday.

My group of friends decide to leave before it gets dark, as the security guards make a sweep of the park and ask visitors to leave at dusk. We decide to go to the local hang-out when filming was regular- The Hamburger Hamlet. It was nice to see everyone and tomorrow is another day for us to enjoy.

The highlight of today's filming was Barbara and Jonelle clowning around; you could just tell how happy they were to be together again on set, if only for a few days.
