ABOUT THE FILM
Most of us are searching for something. Whether it is our passion, purpose, understanding or closure, many are looking for the answers in the wrong place. As our characters embark on this universal human quest, they are intercepted by Dad's spirit and the magic of the Lake which offers them a reflection of themselves and leads them to look within for true understanding.
This is the story of a family raised on the lake. The older daughter, estranged from her father, moved away to Los Angeles to become a lawyer. The younger, an artist, now teaches art at the local elementary school and lives with her parents and their dog.
When dad dies in a sudden accident, the older sister returns home to the lake to settle his estate. The next few weeks at the lake are filled with discoveries, tears, conflict, new love interests and laughter as the two daughters finally understand, through the guidance of Dad's spirit, why it was so important to Dad that they grow up on the lake. For Mom, it is a journey of understanding what the lake means to her personally rather than through her husband's eyes.
A local oddball, leading an eclectic group of guys, continues to cross paths with the ladies as they search for a LochNess style monster they beliee lurks in the lake's depths. A few rel Smith Mountain Lake characters also make appearances. All these paths converge at the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Feestival in a heat-warming and hilarious collision.
