JANE SEYMOUR
Jane Seymour will marry James Keach this month – a year after he first proposed to her while they were filming the TV movie Sunstroke .
“I've asked her many times since, but I think that first proposal went something like: ‘Will you marry me?' And then, when Jane looked at me as if I was crazy, I said, ‘Only kidding,' but I wasn't,” James laughingly recalls.
“It was exactly like that,” Jane confirms. “I thought that he was joking but we quickly became very close friends. He has proposed lots of times over the past year and I've asked him too,” she laughs.
“Although we were working so closely together on Sunstroke we had no physical relationship until about six weeks after the film was over.”
They became officially engaged last Monday, on the set of Jane's successful US TV series Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman – the day that director James's divorce from Mimi Maynard was finalised.
“It does look a little bizarre in the photographs because there I am after filming, wearing my engagement ring but dressed as a boy because Dr Quinn has to disguise herself as a boy to ride in a horse race as women aren't allowed to compete,” Jane explains.
