A congregation of some 370
guests laughed cried and clapped their way through Jane Seymour's
romantic wedding ceremony to director James Keach.
The couple. who fell in love exactly a year before their emotional
wedding day, on the set of the film Sunstroke, were bowled
over by the response of their guests - many of whom flew to
California from around the world to join in the celebrations
and bring their congratulations in person.
"There was this incredible energy about the whole
day and a lot of friends who were there told us they had been
so affected by it that they have decided to get married now
or to renew their vows," British star Jane reveals.
"It was not like a normal wedding - it was an extraordinary
experience," she says of the 20-minute service conducted
by renowned American author and minister Marian Williamson.
who also officiated at Elizabeth Taylor and Larry Fortensky's
wedding.
"It didn't feel like it was just the two of us getting married,
but like a lot of people were celebrating love."
-Yes,- agrees James. "I don't want to get corny about
it but I did have a tear in my eye and it was a very moving
expenence. Even though it was a big ceremony, with lots of
people around us it felt very intimate arid Marian said that
what she hoped would happen was that the love between Jane
and I would spread throughout all the people there. And this
did seem to happen. It was like a glow of spirituality."
As guests, including Stephanie Beacham. David Emanuel, David
and Robert Carradine and Essam Khashoggi, arrived at the home
of shopping centre designers David and Diane Simon - close
friends of the 42-year-old , actress who had offered their spacious
grounds to her for the wedding- venue - they were impressed
with the peach and white flowers and ribbons everywhere, the
marquees to keep out the helicopter paparazzi and the beautiful
wedding bower.
"It was hard to believe that this was Jane's fourth wedding
and James's third. it was being done on such a grand scale.
but watching Jane walk down the aisle looking so radiantly
girlish and in love, you forgot all that." a guest confided.
Both Jane and James have put their previous marriages very
firmly in the past and no ex-partners including David Flynn,
the father of.Jane's two children Katie and Sean, were there
to see them exchange vows.
Speaking exclusively to HELLO! just days after their wedding
on May 15 it quickly becomes apparent that Jane and James might
have only been in love for a year but they have thought long
and hard about committing themselves again. and have no doubts
that their future will be together.
"It feels wondertul to he married to James. "Jane
explains during a break in filming her popular TV series
Dr Quinn Medicine W oman in Agoura Hills, California. He is
directing Jane in that episode and the couple only had the
Saturday and Sunday off before returning to work. Their proper
honeymoon will come later.
"We had an incredible day and I have a great sense of
peace and serenity now and a feeling of having made a new beginning."
"Some people call the wedding ring the smallest set of
handcuffs in the world but I don't feel that way at all." adds
James laughing. "I couldn't be happier because I've never
loved anyone or an thing more in my life than Jane."
