Many know her as the strong-willed, independent minded
Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Others know her for her superb
roles in films such as the romantic Somewhere in Time,
East of Eden (for which she won the Golden Globe
Best Actress Award), or Onassis: The Richest Man in
the World (which won her an Emmy). But for Jane Seymour,
these achievements represent a mere piece of the overall
picture.
This
incredibly effervescent, vibrant celebrity is also an
accomplished stage actress, renowned artist, author, designer,
charity volunteer, devoted mother of six and wife to director
James Keach. Interestingly, she manages it all quite well-somehow
doing each task one at a time and, in the end, blending
them beautifully.
Most
likely, Seymour's success in everything she does is clue
to her self-confidence and positive attitude. She selects
roles in films that embody the essence of who she is;
she paints landscapes of places she loves and writes with
wit about her experiences. It's almost impossible not
to notice her friendliness, her sincerity or her compassionate
nature.
Indeed,
Seymour is perhaps one of the most down- to-earth, open,
honest film stars ever. And yes, she is as beautiful and
as gracious in person as she is on screen. The British-born
53-year-old Seymour is delightfully charming and gracious,
and Luxury Living recently had the privilege of visiting
her Malibu home.
"My home is where my children and family are. It is full
of people and life.It
is not a show house," says Seymour sincerely. "I surround
myself with natural colors that are soothing and inviting,
and I am always moving things around, changing things."
Most aspects of Seymour's life (her family, painting,
decorating and, even to some degree, acting) transpire
right in her ocean view home. In fact, Seymour and Keach's
eight-year-old twins enjoy joining their mother in the
art studio, and their father in the recording studio.
"My home is where my children and family are. It is full
of people and life.
" The Seymour-Keach home is characterized by light-colored
woods and walls of windows overlooking the pool, patios
and ocean beyond. The color scheme is natural, with an
infusion of celadon in the living room, claret in the
family room and earth tones in the den. "There is something
clean and fresh, especially at the ocean, about off-whites
and natural colors," says Seymour.
When
Seymour and Keach first purchased their Malibu home, it
was filled with dark woods and walls that the couple had
bleached and painted.
