You know her as Doctor Ouinn,
Medicine Woman, a role she played for six years on television.
Her starring roles have been quite varied. She starred with
Christopher Reeve in Somewhere in Time, she was Lady Marguerite
in The Scarlet Pimpernel and she starred in the epic television
series War and Remembrance. These are just a very few of
the many roles mastered by travelgirl covergirl Jane Seymour.
This very gifted, legendary beauty hails from England.
Spirited and determined even as a youngster, her parents
enrolled her in dance class, and she fell in love with
the ballet. At the age of 12, Jane traveled as an exchange
student to Hungary, where she learned to speak Hungarian
and was offered a place in the Hungarian State Ballet
School. Her parents, unhappy with the idea of a future
in dance, insisted she return to England, where she enrolled
in the Arts Educational Trust in London, studying not
only ballet, but also music, opera, musical comedy, tap,
design and drama.
At 15, sophisticated and dedicated to dance, she performed
with the famed Kirov Ballet from Russia and the London
Festival Ballet. Fate was to intervene: Seymour fell
and sustained an injury so severe, she would never be
able to dance again.
Dancing through the early years
Jane Seymour was destined for the big screen. A meeting
with famed director Franco Zeffirelli led to a screen
test, and she was on her way to stardom. In 1973, Jane
was chosen to play Solitaire, the "Bond beauty" in
Live and Let Die. This blockbuster hit catapulted her
to fame and she has been sought-after for acting roles
ever since.
However, acting isn't her only profession. This leading
lady is an accomplished writer and fashion designer whose
work is for sale throughout the country at Saks and Parisian
stores. She's also a noted speaker who spends as much
time as possible working on behalf of various charities
such as the American Red Cross and Childhelp USA, a nonprofit
dedicated to the prevention of child abuse. She's also
an accomplished artist.
She values her time and spends it in the profession most
important to her- mother to her beloved twins John and
Kristopher, son Sean, daughter Katie, stepdaughter Jenni
and stepson Kalen. They are the single most important
part of her life. She takes great pride in their achievements,
choosing her film roles by what fits best into her family
priorities.
This elegant travelgirl divides her time between
her homes in the United States and her home in England, St.
Catherine's Court, a Grade 1 listed Elizabethan
Manor House. Seymour offers her cherished home as a rental
to the public when she's not enjoying it herself. It
offers modern conveniences in a setting that is both
ancient and graceful, five miles from the city of Bath.
Jane Seymour is quite a role model for today's women.
She has a way of accomplishing so much and making it
seem effortless, from motherhood to her multitude of
professions. It's an honor to welcome Jane Seymour to
the pages of travelgirl.
