Carolyn holds out a school brochure: a glossy book for the
"Lockley School for Girls, Dallas, Texas- Est. 1874" Devon
refuses to take it. Carolyn latys it on the work table.
Carolyn
Lockley has excellent academics, an art program....
Devon
And cows. There's a cow on the cover.
She jabs at tiny specks in teh picturesque distance.
Devon
You're putting me out to pasture in a .... in a milkmaid
school?
Carolyn
You might like it.
Devon
Why are you doing this?
Carolyn
Between the truancy and petty theft, the criminals you call
friends....
Devon
Yea, but boarding school? You can't like spring this on me
out of nowhere.
Carolyn shakes her head at Devon's willful naivete.
Carolyn
Every call I get, I wonder: is this the one? the one that
says you O.D.ed in teh park or died in some fire yu started?
Next time I pick you up is it going to be at the morgue?
Know what that's like?
Devon rolls her eyes then grabs a tool
Devon
Psychotic much.
Carolyn
I don't deserve that.
Devon
As usual it's all about you
Carolyn
At Lockley you'll get supervision
Devon
And there'll be noone here to interrupt your precious work.
Carolyn
Grow up. Your self absorption...
Devon
Pales next you yours. I'm a teenager, what's your excuse?
