JANE SEYMOUR LEAVING ENGLAND TO SETTLE
IN MALIBU CALIFORNIA
FIRST
THERE was the traumatic divorce from her husband-cum-business
manager, David Flynn, after 10 years of marriage and two
children, Katie, 11, and Sean, 8. Then more recently there
was sister Sally's life-threatening brain hemorrhage. No
wonder actress Jane Seymour, 42, says: "I
needed help; someone to love and to be a good friend to get
me through all I have had to get through."
Enter director James Keach, 46 - brother of actor Stacy - on the set of the USA
cable-TV movie Sunstroke, in which Jane stars and James directs. The couple fell
in love while filming and married last May - exactly a year after Jane's divorce
from David came through.
Jane's generosity and kindness, which attracted James in the first place, are
exemplified by her extended family circle which includes not only Flynn's daughter
from a previous marriage - Jennifer, 12 - and James' son Kalen, 16, but also
Flynn himself, his parents and his ex-wife - Jennifer's mother, Linda Rowan.
And Jane is also on friendly terms with her two other former husbands, Michael
Attenborough - Sir Richard's son and businessman Geoffrey Planer.
A US resident for the last 16 years, England born Jane lives
with her family in a spectacular oceanfront home in Malibu. She recently sold
her 35-room English manor house and now plans to live permanently in the United
States.

The
petite 5-foot-4 actress is currently starring in CBS' highly
rated Saturday night series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,
in which she plays an outspoken, independent doctor. She
and James have founded a production company and co-produced
various projects, including Praying Mantis and A
Passion for Justice, which James directed.
Their biggest project to date is a feature film for Clint Eastwood, starring
Robert Duvall, to be released this spring.
Jane, how would you describe your life at the moment?
Very good. I'm extremely
happy. It obviously pays to look on the bright side of
things because through adversity come wondrous new things.
Is your husband James central to that equation?
Absolutely.
James is fantastic,
the most extraordinary person I've ever met. And David (her ex) adores him
too, so that helps a lot.
So you and your ex-husband David are good friends again now?
We are. After all, David is the father of my two children. And I am very close
to my beautiful stepdaughter, David's child, Jennifer.
How are the children reacting to their new stepfather?
They think he's great. Not only that, all the children get on really well
together.
Things
have not been rosy in the past. This your fourth marriage.
What made you tie the knot again?
The truth of the matter that my first two
marriages were very brief and, in a sense, hardly count. The only real
marriage for me before James was my marriage to David. But the difference
with James is that in him I have found my soulmate. For the first time
I am sharing every part of my life with another human being. We have the
same professions, we have a company together, we are together every day
and do things together all the time. We share the same values and ideals.
We love looking after our kids, playing with them and doing sports. We
love working together, too. What more can one ask for?
Are you and James planning to have children of your own?
We hope so. We would love to have more children.
How do you react to being described as the most romantic woman in the
world?
Well, I never thought I was, thank you very much. No, there's a lot more
to me than this notion of a romantic. I think I am much more of a realist
than a romantic.
But you would agree you are an optimist?
Yes, I don't like to waste time dealing
with negatives. So I guess I am an optimist.
James,
what is it like being married to Jane?
Her
strength, dignity character and loyalty, not to mention
her sense of resposibility towards others, her kindness
and generosity.
Do you have any complaints?
She works too hard. She always wants to do her best and that means sacrificing
herself, , her own personal life or her privacy.
Jane, are you planning to stay in America for good?
Probably. After all, I've been here now for over 16 years.
