Jane gets pregnant at the age of 44
Jane’s dream of finally finding her soulmate had finally come true; there was only one thing missing. Despite how much Jane loved her own two children Katie and Sean, her stepdaughter Jenni and her stepson (James’s son) Kalen, she wanted to give James a very special gift- a child. The couple decided to do all that they could to make that happen and after 2 miscarriages- with the aid of science, Jane found herself pregnant with twins at the age of 44.  It was a difficult pregnancy and Jane developed a sometimes life threatening condition called Preeclampsia but ultimately John (named for Jane’s father and family friend the late Johnny Cash) and Kris (named after the late Chris Reeve) were born on November 30, 1995.

Life After Dr. Quinn
Three years later, after a 6 year long run, Dr Quinn Medicine Woman; which by this time had been seen in 98 countries and was loved world-wide was abruptly cancelled by CBS; in an attempt to lure a younger more male oriented audience. Fans around the world rallied in support staging rallies and write-in campaigns. The news media embraced the story and the network compromised by making 2 Dr Quinn Television films. But television itself was changing and as a now middle-aged actress Jane realized she would have to change as well. She sought out roles that allowed her to show a different side of her character.

In 2005 Jane fought for and won the role of Kathleen Cleary, an over-sexed wife in the hilarious box office hit The Wedding Crashers with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. Though the role was small, it opened a door to an entirely new genre that Jane had never actively explored before- comedy. Several guest appearances in various sitcoms and feature films followed including; two short lived series , Modern Men(WB) and In Case of Emergency(ABC) as well as Blind Dating (directed by husband James Keach) and various independent films.

In 2007, Jane fulfilled a girlhood dream when she competed on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars with partner Tony Dovolani. Sadly, during her stint on the show, Jane’s beloved mother Mieke, died. Although devestated, Jane determined to make her mother proud and after the funeral she returned to the show, throwing all her passion and grief into a tango that brought both the judges and the audience to tears. Jane and Tony had a successful run lasting 7 episodes; proving once again Jane’s ability to accomplish anything she set her mind to.
