BEVERLY HILLS, CA (Hollywood Today) 7/14/08 - - “Ever since ‘Wedding Crashers’ I’ve loved doing comedy,” said Jane Seymour. She is the star in Hallmark Channel’s latest original production of ‘Dear Prudence.’ Seymour seems to be one of those rare actresses who bring joy and delight to your television or the silver screen no matter the content of her work.

The Television Critics Association (TCA) met in Beverly Hills to review some of cable television’s future projects and meet some of their biggest stars. In a time when the public is starving for quality television that’s void of curse words and adult content, it’s family-friendly channel’s such as Hallmark Television that remind the public there are a few stations in TV land that the entire family can sit down and watch at just about any age.

Life’s daily experiences, human emotions and everyday occurrences come through in Hallmark Television, never sugar coated, just the raw events of everyday life. And who else could better represent Hallmark’s passion for the human condition than Jane Seymour, 57, in ‘Dear Prudence.’

“Prudence is very practical. I mean. Prudence could walk in a room and see something that’s wrong, that needs to be fixed, and that needs to be cleaned and she will actually have the solution in her handbag. And while she’s talking to people doing things, she’ll just deal with it,” said Seymour while expanding on her character.

Prudence is a comical Martha Stewart type advice columnist in search of finding good advice for herself. Taking a much needed vacation, Prudence Macintyre gets caught up in a murder mystery and discovers a few things about herself along the way. The poor relationship with her mother she had as a child and her own disenchantment in finding Mr. Right are some of those interpersonal issues Prudence must deal with.

“She is compassionate, cares about people, but she’s got a lot of thing’s to work on. She’s single. She doesn’t have children. She’s doesn’t have a good relationship, and she never had a good relationship with her mother. So there’s an enormous amount about Prudence she has to work on for herself and that makes it kind of interesting and quirky,” Seymour said.

The advice Prudence gives to others in her column was never the advice she seemed to apply to her own life. What’s to become of Prudence? Will she help solve the murder or perhaps more importantly for herself, will she discover who the real Prudence really is or find the love she desperately desires?

“But the best part about her is that she’s always right. I mean, at least she thinks so,” Seymour added.

‘Dear Prudence’ is one of 30 original movies Hallmark Channel is scheduled to premier in the next 12 months. Hallmark is in 85 million homes and one reason they have become a top 10 channel on cable for the past two years.

‘Dear Prudence’ premieres on Saturday August 23, 9-11 p.m.
