Sister act - Jane Seymour

“We're there for each other”

“The bond between me and my sisters Sally and Annie is so strong. They've known and loved me forever and the older I get the deeper the bond seems to become.

I'm the eldest and also the one who went on to be in the public eye. When I got my first big pay cheque, for Live and Let Die, I put money in their accounts.

We argue every so often, but it's resolved quickly. Forgiveness is automatic and when the chips are down, we're there for each other.

In 1994, Sally collapsed with a life-threatening brain aneurism. When we arrived at the hospital she was lying there paralysed, but she made a full recovery. Annie and I refer to her as Our Miracle Sister.

Sally Frankenberg, 55, has been both an infant school teacher and a customer relations manager for an airline. Twice divorced, she lives in Middlesex.

“We were born within three years of each other so we shared everything. Now we are in our fifties, we're closer than ever.

Nearly dying has a way of helping you to fully value the people you love. When I suffered my aneurism, my sisters really proved their love for me. Annie slept on a camp bed in my hospital room for weeks, while Jane invited me to convalesce at her home in California."

Annie Gould, 53, lives in Surrey with her husband Donald. They have three children, William, 23, Charlie, 22, and Georgie, 21. A qualified homeopath, Annie now works as a school secretary.

“We're not just sisters – we're best friends. My twenties were the usual series of romantic ups and downs and after one break up I was in tears on the phone to Jane in Los Angeles. She just said, 'Get on a plane and come over!'

My sisters are like my limbs. I can't imagine how it would be to lose either of them. They are central to my life and to that of my husband and children.”
