Mike and I took off on Thurs morning the 29th
of April for Orange, CA and then on to our reunion weekend in
the Santa Monica Mountains. After our stop at the office, we
headed for Agoura Hills, a little north and west of Los Angeles.
We made a quick stop at a Kohls to pick up new sneakers for
Mike and then arrived at the Hotel - The Rennaissance in Agoura Hills not far
from Paramount Ranch. Our DQ Reunion Get-A-Way Weekend was finally here!
We got checked in and sat in the Lobby for a while with other DQ Members and
then went into Dinner with the group who had arrived at that point. After a
nice dinner we adjourned to one of the meeting rooms where Jane's associates
had set up a display of her art work, childrens things and home items. We were
able to buy at 1/2 off and I picked up a couple of things I really liked.
Mike checked his watch at this point and we made a mad dash to the airport
to pick up Trudy who was arriving on American Airlines from NYC - her flight
was early if you can believe that! With Trudy in tow we headed back to the
hotel and stopped at Cocos for a late night snack..
Friday morning Mike and I hit IHOP for breakfast and then headed back to the
Hotel to pick up Trudy for our beach trip. This time around, while it was still
cool and very breezy, it wasn't as bone chilling cold. We enjoyed a lite lunch
after our irregular breakfast and eventually headed back to the hotel for a
quick dip in the pool and a chat with some other DQ Fans.
That evening we had the official welcome dinner and got re-acquainted with
old friends and met new friends. It was highlighted by a surprise visit from
Jennifer Youngs.
Saturday morning dawned clear, bright and HOT. We did some roaming down to
Paramount Ranch (it was fast heating up), showed Trudy where Malibu Creek State
Park was (Temp by that time was 99) and then roamed up and down the Malibu
Coast. We were back at the Hotel in time to relax before our big Cast Dinner.
We headed off in our "western" garb for Calimingos
Ranch where the party was being held and connected up with Frank
Collison and his daughter Eliza.
